Many business jet owners are pragmatic and busy individuals.  Most of the time, they want to get things done efficiently and economically.  Therefore, when it’s time to look at their business jet- their work tool- minimal Flight Data Analysis & Monitoring are done to follow the compliance requirements and to maintain aircraft’s airworthiness.

However, businessmen lack the knowledge that a well-organized Flight Data Analysis and Monitoring, is a good investment. Flight Data Analysis and monitoring helps to see how the pilot navigates the aircraft and the aircraft’s health parameters (engine status, etc.).  Not only it improves flight safety but also helps to reduce aircraft maintenance costs.

Our Solution-LUCH software

For the past 8 years, FDT has been supplying business jet owners with LUCH©- our Flight Data Analysis and Monitoring solution. In addition to the software, many companies choose to integrate our Quick Access Recorders(U-QAR).

U-QAR

U-QAR’s facilitate the wireless data download from the aircraft to the cellular or computer devices, using the built-in Wi-Fi system.   Both LUCH© software and U-QAR has been used by our clients in various types of business jets. Some of these aircraft were CRJ-700, Iakovlev-42, Antonov-24, Falcon 900, and GulfstreamG450.

Aircraft Problems that arise from lack of monitoring

Due to the time constraints at the request of aircraft owners, important parameters of normal flight performance are not observed. Such parameters are: engine warm-up after start-up and engine cool-down before shutdown.

Results of implementing LUCH for our Clients

As soon as FDT started implementing the LUCH© FDM-FDA solution for our customers, exceedances of aircraft performance limits were detected. The results of the analysis were immediately presented to the airline management and the Flight Safety Inspection Team. Corrections have been made to the aircraft’s working practices(on both crew and maintenance sides).

What Business Jet Owners Have Learned- Safety Rules and Improved Aircraft Management

Since the implementation of LUCH© FDM-FDA software, business jet operators were able to understand the financial benefits of following the Flight Safety rules. In addition, businesses have been instructed about the dangers of breaking the aviation safety rules. FDT’s software helped aircraft owners to take proactive actions to increase their aircraft safety. As a result of this change, FDT’s clients saw an increase in the availability of their business jets, a significant drop in maintenance costs, and an improvement in the comfort and safety of their passengers.

Specific Problems of FDT’S Customers and Proposed Solutions.

Below is a typical example of Business Jet issue.  The name of the business jet operator is hidden to maintain customer’s privacy.

Often times, when the business jet owner is on-board, he tends to rush the airplane to perform. Due to a quick take-off and landing, the engine does not attain a full warm-up, the plane gets overloaded on touch down, the plane is taxiing at maximum speeds, and the engine cooldown is maintained during Standing Arrival phase...

Implementing Flight Data Analysis and Monitoring Software Helps to Prevent Accidents

Later on, the company’s maintenance teams found cracks in the landing gear and engine failure, which are both very costly.  Furthermore, aircraft negligence can lead to tragic accidents.  Flight Safety should be the priority of all air operators, commercial flights as well as personal, charters of business jet.

Collaboration between Teams can Decrease Operation Costs

By implementing the LUCH© customized Flight Data Analysis & Monitoring solution, clients can quickly observe during their flight analysis the behavior of the pilot crew and aircraft’s health parameters for maintenance.  Corrective actions can be taken on both sides of Flight Safety Team and Maintenance Teams to avoid breakage, incidents and accidents.

As a result, the Flight Safety Team, pilot representatives and the Maintenance Team can all collaborate to improve flight safety.  Such team work could greatly contribute to decrease in operation costs. Companies must take pro-active actions instead of only being reactive. As a result, businesses would avoid facing the expensive costs of replacing broken airplane parts, grounded aircrafts as well as accident risks.

Conclusion

The proper implementation of efficient Flight Data Analysis and Monitoring software such as LUCH© FDM-FDA, will allow all Business Jet operators to improve their flight safety. On the long-term, such improvement would result in reduced aircraft maintenance costs as well as increased Aircraft Safety.

Impact of Environmental Regulations on Aviation

Environmental laws have had a significant impact on the aviation industry, prompting changes in aircraft design, operations, and overall practices to reduce the environmental footprint of air travel. These laws are driven by concerns about greenhouse gas emissions, noise pollution, air quality, and other environmental factors. Here are some of the key impacts of environmental laws on aviation: Emissions Reduction: Environmental laws have led to regulations that target aircraft emissions, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2). These regulations have spurred the development of more fuel-efficient aircraft engines and technologies to reduce the overall carbon footprint of aviation. Airlines have adopted more efficient operational practices, such as single-engine taxiing, optimized routes, and improved air traffic management, to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. Alternative Fuels: Environmental laws have encouraged the aviation industry to explore and adopt alternative fuels, such as biofuels and synthetic fuels, which produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional jet fuel.

The Importance of Quick Access Recorders

Over the decades, flying in a commercial airliner has become a relatively safe experience compared to years past. That being said, flying in an aircraft still carries some level of risk, and there is always a chance of an incident or accident occurring, potentially resulting in significant financial costs or passenger fatalities.
