Automated Flight Data Collection & Transmission

From Manual Recorder Downloads to Automated Data Delivery
Operators that still rely on manual recorder downloads can wait too long for usable flight data and spend unnecessary maintenance time handling media. FDT automates flight data collection by combining onboard recording, using the WQAR (Wireless Quick Access Recorder, or uQAR), with wireless transfer. Flight data can then move from the aircraft to the required downstream system with less manual intervention.
Faster Access to Flight Data, With Less Manual Handling
Automated acquisition
The WQAR (uQAR) records compatible aircraft data whenever the connected source is powered.
Wireless delivery
Transfer data on demand or automatically, using the connectivity supported by the selected model.
Faster access
Make flight data available sooner for flight data monitoring (FDM), flight operational quality assurance (FOQA), maintenance and airline-server workflows.
Mixed-fleet approach
Aircraft-specific connectors and configurations support deployment across compatible fixed-wing and rotary-wing fleets.

From WQAR Recording to Automated Flight Data Transmission
- The WQAR (uQAR) records the compatible aircraft data stream.
- Data is stored onboard and transferred through the configured Wi-Fi, LTE or approved communications path.
- WebPortal and/or FDT processing receives and routes the file.
- Data is delivered to XpressA, the airline server or a supported third-party system.
WQAR Storage, ARINC Interfaces and Transmission Data
- 16 GB onboard storage across the current WQAR family.
- ARINC (Aeronautical Radio, Incorporated) 717 support on current models. The upcoming uQAR3 is intended to add ARINC 429 support.
- uQAR2: ARINC 717 input at 64–1024 words per second, approximately 150 g, automatic LTE transmission, with transmission speeds of up to 16 Mb/s.
- In a compatible deployment, automated reports may be available within approximately 14 minutes after landing. Timing depends on connectivity, file size and configuration.

Approval Depends on Aircraft, Interface and Jurisdiction
Aircraft compatibility and approval depend on aircraft type, recorder interface, installation configuration and jurisdiction. FDT confirms compatibility against its Aircraft & Certification information before quotation or installation.
